Beecher farm being donated
A suburban Chicago woman is donating her 160-acre farm to the Will County Forest Preserve.
Sixty-nine-year-old Lisbet Temple tells the Daily Southtown she thinks land preservation is important, which is why she wants to protect the property from being developed in the future.
Under the arrangement, Temple's farm will go to the preserve when she dies and will become an educational site or be converted back to wetlands and prairie.
The Flossmoor resident will have the right to visit and work at the property until then.
Temple's late husband bought the land in 1965. The newspaper says it's one of the largest easements and donations to the 22,000-acre Will County Forest Preserve.
